Alanya is a tourism province of Turkey connected to the province of Antalya in the Mediterranean region. The distance to the city center is 132 km. Alanya, located on the southern coast of Turkey, has an area of 1,598,51 km2 and its population is 276,277 (according to the 2013 census). The vast majority of the population is Turkish. There are about 10 thousand in Europe.
The administrative district of Alanya is bound to the province of Antalya, and the Alanya Municipality and the district have entered the responsibility of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. Gazipaşa Airport, which is 45 kilometers away from Alanya, has been active in 2012.
In terms of its strategic location it is a small peninsula in the coastal parts of the Mediterranean. To the north is the Taurus Mountains. Throughout history, Alanya has seen an important fortress in the Mediterranean for empires like Rome, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman.
